Alice Ryan

Alice Breda Ryan began her percussive dance studies at the age of ten with Maureen Hall and the McTeggart School of Irish Dance. In addition to traditional Irish step dance, she has studied Cape Breton step dance, American rhythm tap, flamenco, Bollywood, ballet, jazz, flatfooting, and sean-nós dance.

Over the past decade, Alice has performed as a singer and percussive dancer with several groups across the U.S. including The Sweet Set, Gaelic Gathering, McLean Avenue Band, Tomaseen Foley's Celtic Christmas tour, Daoine, and in NY Trad Fest. Alice competed in Ireland at the Fleadh Cheoil na hEirreann representing the Mid-Atlantic Region in traditional singing and sean-nós dancing in 2015, 2018, and 2019. While living in Los Angeles, California, Alice performed with the Bollywood Step Dance Troupe in “India Calling!” at the Hollywood Bowl. Alice also sang in “A Gaelic Gathering” at the Ford Theater in Hollywood. In addition to traditional folk singing and dancing, Alice has worked in professional musical theater, both in the chorus and as a featured dancer. Last February, Alice danced in “Scór on Broadway” in Manhattan at Symphony Space. In March of 2019, Alice was thrilled to perform as a solo sean nós dancer in the show “LIVE FROM HERE with Chris Thile” at Carnegie Hall.
