Matthew Christian

Matthew Christian's introduction to trad music came early through family dances in New Hampshire and Cape Breton. Relocating to Brooklyn in 2011, he spent the next several years living the life of a feral pest, though he did manage to snag a mention in Rolling Stone for his subway performer advocacy. Matthew is the recipient of a 2019 Flanders Award for Vermont Traditional Music and can be heard at the Sutton Bar Room session on Sundays in Manhattan with Max Carmichael, as well as in the new trio Brú. In his spare time, Matthew is a fan of walking really quickly.
