Oscar Cruz

Cuban musician, Professional Oboist and Bachelor of Art Instructor. He is an active member of the Chamber Music movement in Cuba for which he continuously participates in the most important Chamber and Contemporary Music festivals that take place in his country, as a member of different musical groups and musical ensembles, with which he has also made presentations and concerts in different cities of the United States and Central America. He is a member of the Villa Clara Symphony Orchestra, where in addition to the oboe he also plays the English Horn, With this group he has recorded several CDs, has made several national tours and has played concerts for oboe as a soloist. Since 2014 he has been part of the Old Music Ensemble "Ars Nova", a musical group that is characterized by the interpretation of Historically informed music, and where he plays historical instruments such as the Baroque Oboe and the Recorder.

Oscar is passionate about ethnic and folk wind musical instruments, which is why for several years he has been researching and venturing into the construction and making of some of the folk musical instruments that he plays today, in addition to being a great lover of the folk music of the different cultures of the world, it is in this way that he began to approach and be interested in playing the tin whistle, Irish melodies and Celtic music.
