Wendy MacIsaac
Wendy MacIsaac is a renowned fiddler from Cape Breton who has been playing music for over 35 years. She is recognized as one of the “old school” style of players who has kept the traditional sound going and has a deep respect for it.
Wendy is also a sought after piano accompanist and step dancer.
Besides performing as a solo artist, Wendy tours with Mary Jane Lamond, her cousin Ashley MacIsaac, Heather Rankin, Bruce Guthro and Beòlach, since 2000.
Wendy is in high demand for her skills at teaching the Cape Breton style of fiddling. She travels throughout North America and overseas as well as teaching from her home in Halifax.
Wendy has 8 albums to her credit, the latest one, All Hands, which is the newest Beòlach album that has been highly anticipated.
The album Seinn she did with Mary Jane Lamond in 2012 won an East Coast Music, Music Nova Scotia and Canadian Folk Award in 2013.
In January 2016, Wendy produced an album by Katie McNally who is one of the hottest traditional instrumentalists coming out of Boston at the moment. In 2017, she produced an album for Saskatoon based band, West of Mabou. That album got them a nomination for a Canadian Folk Music Award and a Western Canadian Music Award in 2018.
In the past year, Wendy has stayed busy with festivals in North America and Scotland and with the release of the new Beòlach album, she and the band were asked to be Artists in Residence at the 2019 Celtic Colours Festival in Cape Breton with their good friends from Breabach from Scotland. It was an incredible successful festival and they are hoping to continue collaborating for future tours.
