Allison Barber Pasternak

Singer and songwriter Allison Barber Pasternak was born in Boston, where early exposure to Irish and Scottish music influenced her work. As teenager, she trained at the Boston Conservatory before earning bachelor of arts degree in theater and voice from Ithaca College. She spent her post-graduate years training in traditional Irish and Scottish voice in the U.K. In New York City, she established herself as an in-demand singer on the Irish music scene and toured as a premiere vocalist in Celtic Celebration with the Indianapolis Symphony Society. In 2007, Allison released her debut album, Traveling Home, a collection of traditional Irish music accompanied by some of the finest traditional musicians in NYC, including renowned Irish fiddler, Tony DeMarco. Her second album, The Birds in the Bushes, was produced by Kyle Sanna and featured Allison's original songs, which combined her love of traditional music and American folk. She currently teaches private voice and performs with Denver’s premier choral ensemble, Kantorei, under the direction of Joel Rinsema. She lives with her husband, three daughters and a Westie named Archie.
